2M2L Recommendations
Compliance checks are a tool used by law enforcement to identify alcohol retailers that sell alcohol to underage youth. 2M2L recommends that all law enforcement agencies performing Compliance Checks should use protocol suggested by the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP). Law enforcement that attend the 2M2L Training receive tactical training in Compliance Check protocol. Protocol is available on this website for your information. Please note that agencies should contact their respective District Attorney’s offices to receive information regarding necessary evidence for a successful prosecution of a case. Additionally, all youth volunteers should have signed permission forms to perform Compliance Checks. Forms should be signed by either the volunteer (if 18 or older) or a legal parent or guardian (if under 18). Adult and Youth volunteers may be subpoenaed to court to testify regarding their conduct and involvement in the Compliance Checks.
Submitting Compliance Check Results
Only law enforcement personnel may submit Compliance Check results/data. Since not all law enforcement agencies are required to submit Compliance Check results, 2M2L recognizes that data submitted on this website is limited and not comprehensive statewide data, but may use the data in reports and presentations representative of the information provided.
